  • CIENCIAS. Next Monday we will introduce a new topic in relation with the Solar System: 'Telescopes'.We will see a video in the rainpop web. Children will be enjoying a lot this topic for sure.

  • ESPANOL. There are some topics in which we have been working during  the last two weeks: personal pronouns and tobe verb in Spanish, it will be favourable for learners to practice a little bit theses topics in order to memorize them. week 22-23

Hola a todos,

This is going to be a very short week, just two days working on our regular activities. Anyway, I won't be there because I will be travelling to Spain for a long week. Another teacher is going to be working with all of you as regular because I have been preparing enough material for the 4 following days (2 days this week and another 2 for the following).

We will be working on the following topics:
  • MATEMATICAS, Students will be parcticing with equations. They have been learing how to issolate a variable so how to solve an equation without knowing what is the real valor of the variable. They will be working on this during this two days doing some exercises in different packets and assignment .

  • CIENCIAS. During this two days, they will be working in a new topic within the Solar System which is the International Space Station. They will be watching a video (Brainpop) and later on they will be working in written activities on some worksheets.

  • ESPANOL. They are going to be working in the Spanish packet that I have prepared for them form the begining of the course. In this chapter 1 they have learnt nationalities, how to indroduce yourshelf and countries all aroung the world. So, they will be reviewing this topics using some of the activities of the book and also will learn about additional aspects of Spanish grammar (Spanish articles: el, la, los, las)
  • HOMEWORK : In math they will have a assignment as a homework: a packet for parcticing equations.

  • NOTE: parents, don´t forget to consult everyweek the GRADE BOOK and check your child´s grades. If you need further information do not hesitate to contact me on: dcamara@northdavisprep.org , or to schedule and appointment in the school (availables Modays from 3:05 till 4:00 )

Week 22-26

Hola de nuevo a todos,

During this week of November, we will be working on the following topics:
  • MATEMATICAS, In this chapter 2 students will be introduced to fundamental algebraic concepts such as variables, algebraic espressions and inequalities. Students learn to write expressions for data in tables, to solve algebraic equations by using inverse operations, and to solve word problems by writing algebraic equations.

  • This week (lesson 2-3) they will learn to write expressions for tables and sequences. They will also learn to determine whether a number is a solution of an equation (lesson 2-4)

  • CIENCIAS. This week we will be keep on working on the Solar System (Sistema Solar) and its configuration. Last week we learnt the distinction between natural and artificial satellites. During this week, we will be learning about "space debris" (http://www.eclipsetours.com/sat/debris.html) produced by the human been nearby the Earth and also about different types of artificial satellites we use to explore the Solar System, our galaxy and the universe.

  • SOCIALES. We will be working on another topic which is in relation with pharaohs and ancient Egypt: the Seven Wonders of the ancient world .

  • ESPANOL. We have been practicing with some translation from English to Spanish and we will review personal pronouns (yo, tú, él, ella, ello, nosotros vosotros y ellos)

  • HOMEWORK (for next Monday):

Hola a todos,

During this first week of November, we will be working on the following topics:
  • MATEMATICAS, In this chapter 2 students will be introduced to fundamental algebraic concepts such as variables, algebraic espressions and inequalities. Students learn to write expressions for data in tables, to solve algebraic equations by using inverse operations, and to solve word problems by writing algebraic equations.

  • This last week (lesson 2-2) they have been learning how to be able to use algebraic expessions in problems solving and how to translate between words and math

  • CIENCIAS. This week we will be keep on working on the Solar System (Sistema Solar). Last week we were learning with a video(Brainpop) and webside (Nada junior) about the Solar System, and in this week we are going to be working with some science projets.

  • SOCIALES. We are keep on working on Egypt. Two weeks ago we saw how to  mommify a potato; this following week, we will be working on the potato's mommification and we will finish it (it takes 9 days to do it), and also we will touch another topic which is in relation with pharaohs: the Seven Wonders of the ancient world .
